The paints can generally be divided into three categories: solvent-based lacquer paints, water-based acrylic paints, and particularly environmentally friendly water-based acrylic paints. Each category has its own advantages and disadvantages. Solvent-based lacquer paints, such as the C-series, offer the highest quality but have a strong solvent odor and contain environmentally hazardous substances. Water-based acrylic paints, like the H-series, have only a moderate smell and contain fewer hazardous substances. They can be thinned with water or, even better, with our special Aqueous Hobby Color thinners. The N-series paints, which are also water-based acrylics, are the safest to use. Thanks to their environmentally friendly and largely harmless ingredients, they are very low in odor and therefore ideal for use in confined spaces. These too can be thinned with water or, ideally, with our special Acrysion Color thinners.

The shelf life of our paints depends on various factors. Always ensure paints are sealed airtight, stored in a dry place, and kept out of direct sunlight. Thickened solvent-based paints such as Mr. Color can be restored using T115 Replenishing Agent. You can find our full range of thinners here. Make sure to use the correct thinner for your paint!
